Feb. 14-18 Lesson Plans

Sociology:
Students will demonstrate understanding orally and in writing of the following:
a) historical background of the field of sociology
b) significant personages and their impact on the field
c) events that led to the evolution of sociology as a discipline
d) importance of integrity of data within the field
e) careers within the field of sociology
Evaluation by teacher of discussion and student response and grading of test. Oral quizzes.
Monday:
Lecture and discussion over evolution of discipline & significant individuals who contributed to the development of the field
Tuesday:
Instructional film: Social Connections
Wednesday:
Completion of film
Thursday & Friday:
Open book test

Introduction to Journalism:
The students will demonstrate ability to recognize and identify design elements of cutting edge publications in yearbook, magazine and newspaper.
Students will identify orally and in writing design techniques, photo composition, font selection and use of color and white space to evoke reader interest.
Students will read daily newspaper and follow current events.
Evaluation will include teacher quizzes, oral questioning and project demonstration.
Monday & Tuesday: Best of High School Press in America samples
Wednesday-Friday: Radical Write & Text assignments over design elements
