Sociology:
Students will be able to:
~identify the impact of mentoring in solving problems associated with poverty and educational deficiencies
~explain the role of active parenting in individual success
~define the three parenting styles of: permissive, authoritarian & authoritative
~project the results of each of these parenting styles
~demonstrate in writing critical analysis of the last two weeks of study dealing with the issues of poverty, education issues, parenting styles & impact, role of community in individual success
Monday-Friday:
~lecture, classroom discussion & debate of issues related to stated objectives
~teacher evaluation of above as well as an essay and short answer test over material
~senior checklist: higher education admission & scholarship deadlines; how to access additional scholarship info; ck. on FAFSA progress for those committed to college; discuss aptitude testing options at Kilgore College; study skills & testing knowledge

Intro to Journalism:
Students will demonstrate ability to:
~identify elements of yearbook theme development
~composition of spread design for yearbook
~identify elements of strong photo composition
Monday:
~Complete CSPA Crown Award yearbook winners analysis
~written critique of a yearbook other than White Oak’s
~TAKS-Tues.-Thurs.
Friday: Complete stated objectives
