~complete & discuss film (debate points presented in film)

~discuss and document in writing higher education goals of students

~Senior Friday–Higher Education tricks & tips

Introduction to Journalism
Students will be able to:
~identify rules for caption & headline writing
~list most used Associated Press Stylebook rules
~submit a self-generated story idea for publication
~list & discuss the most important elements in feature writing
~demonstrate in writing elements of active voice writing
Monday:
~using handout review rules for caption & headline writing
~apply rules to daily newspaper reading (find poor headlines & captions and rewrite)
Tuesday:
~daily newspaper reading & discussion of current events
~go over feature writing rules and check against published stories
Wednesday:
~go over AP Stylebook rules
~AP quiz
~read daily newspaper
Thursday:
~Radical Write by Bobby Hawthorne Reading assignment
~LNJ current events
Friday:
~LNJ current events
~read aloud from All Over But the Shoutin’ by Rick Bragg
